THC is Maryland’s largest minority-operated nonprofit, tax-exempt community health center. This Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is the product of the 1989 merger of two primary health-care organizations: the Constant Care Community Health Center, Inc. (founded in 1968) and the West Baltimore Community Health Care Corporation (founded in 1972). From 1997 through 2001, THC was a partnering provider with CarePartners, a Managed Care Organization. The CarePartners arrangement was dissolved in April 2001. THC is now contracted as a provider to five MCOs: Maryland Physicians’ Care, AmeriGroup, United HealthCare, Priority Partners, and Coventry.
Together with its predecessors, THC has provided more than 42 years of continuous service to Baltimore’s medically underserved and uninsured residents, and implemented appropriate systems and services to meet the needs of the community.
Generations of families have passed through our doors and received services that meet needs at every state of the life cycle. Our eight health centers are not only located in the communities we serve, but many of our board members, medical and professional staff live in those communities and understand the need for affordable and accessible healthcare services.
Total Health Care collaborates with many community organizations and national healthcare funding resources to expand its services and programs and enrich the lives of our patients and their families.
Total Health Care, Inc. is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) funded in part by Local, State and Government agencies. For more information about funding agencies, please contact our Administration Department at (410) 728-6642.
The mission of THC is to improve the health and quality of life for all. THC seeks to improve the health status of the greater Baltimore communities through health education, outreach, and preventive health programs that change lifestyles and at-risk behaviors – regardless of ability to pay. THC’s vision is to be the premier community-responsive health care organization in Maryland. This vision is underscored by its commitment to service delivery excellence, prioritization of customer satisfaction, emphasis on prevention and wellness care, involvement in community capacity building, the cultural ability to serve a diverse and high-risk, vulnerable population.
