When it comes to health care, you only want the best for your child. Total Health Care offers outstanding pediatric care in a child-friendly environment. We strive to make our clinical sites medical homes by partnering with families to provide excellent patient care. This includes planned well-child exams, immunizations, management of complex conditions and coordination with sub-specialty care. Our expert staff of board certified pediatricians and family practice physicians believe that every child is special.

Named Best Pediatric Immunization Site

Providing immunizations more effectively to our children is essential to providing excellent preventive health services. For the fifth consecutive year, Total Health Care's pediatric clinics were named a ‘Best Childhood Immunization Practice Site’ by the Baltimore City Health Department. In 2008, two of our clinical sites were among the eight clinics in the city awarded this honor. This recognition highlights our success in disease prevention efforts to improve the health of our community.

Protecting baby teeth and beyond

Our pediatricians have partnered with the Baltimore City Health Department to implement an innovative pilot program to prevent early childhood caries by applying a simple fluoride varnish during well child exams. In addition to this simple intervention, a dental home is established for every child at our two state-of-the-art dental centers.

Preventing an epidemic

Unfortunately obesity and being overweight has reached epidemic proportions affecting over 34% of American children. From 1980 to 2002 the prevalence of these conditions among 6 to 19 year olds tripled. Total Health Care has made a commitment our communities with its efforts in early prevention, recognition, and treatment of this problem. Our clinicians work closely with our nutrition staff to coordinate care in individual and group based settings.

Pediatric Asthma

Our clinicians are experts in treating asthma and its complications. We provide routine care, on going education and acute treatment of asthma exacerbations. To help coordinate the many services available to children suffering from asthma in Baltimore City, Total Health Care serves as a referral and resource center for patients and their families.

Development of mind and body

There are often a variety of mental health and developmental challenges that affect pediatric patients. Our Centers of Emotional and Social Health are there to serve the psychiatric and counseling needs of our pediatric population and their families.

Pediatric Literacy Program

To promote early childhood learning and literacy Total Health Care has partnered with Reach Out and Read to provide new books for infants, preschoolers and school-age children who visit our pediatric centers. Through this initiative we have distributed over 10,000 books to our patients during their well-child visits. Our health care providers make it a priority to talk with parents about the enjoyment and value of reading books to their children.
